Debate Challenge: Bush Should Be Prosecuted for War Crimes

As I head out on a book tour of the 40 plus cities listed down the right-hand side of https://davidswanson.org I issue the following challenge: I will publicly debate any worthy participant who is willing to argue the negative on the following resolution: “George W. Bush should be prosecuted for war crimes.”

This challenge is subject to scheduling restrictions and the preferences of local organizers already arranging for me to speak about my book. Radio debates by telephone are also read more

Obama IS Leading, But in the Wrong Direction

By David Swanson

“If you would lead, maybe we would follow,” David Michael Green writes to Obama in another witty and aggressive article (and ALMOST always I agree with and admire what Green writes). Green wishes Obama had drafted a healthcare plan rather than letting Congress do it and objects to Obama’s deference to Congress members funded by the health industry.

Book Breakout on September 1st

Many more people could be made aware of this new book were it at the top of the rankings on Amazon.com. One way we can put it there is for everyone to purchase the book from Amazon on the same day, Tuesday, September 1, 2009.

Nascence to End Work

By David Swanson

Cultures isolated from modernity have tended not to engage in anything resembling what we call work. When we began inventing modern time-saving devices and increasing productivity in our factories (and, yes, exploiting other peoples to do the factory work) we were always told we’d be able to work less — often by people who clearly imagined there were limits to human greed and cruelty.

We live in a culture now where any talk of not wanting to work is immediately understood read more
