Talk World Radio: Michael Messner: Unconventional Combat

Talk World Radio is recorded as audio and video on Riverside.fm. Here is this week’s video and all the videos on Youtube.

This week on Talk World Radio, U.S. military veterans. Our guest, Michael Messner is professor of sociology and gender studies at the University of Southern California. He received his Ph.D. in sociology from the University of California, Berkeley. He is the author or editor of nineteen books, and has in recent years focused his research on U.S. military veterans who become lifelong advocates for peace and social justice. The first book based on this research, Guys Like Me: Five Wars, Five Veterans for Peace, which I highly recommend, was published by Rutgers University Press in 2019. The new book, Unconventional Combat: Intersectional Action in the Veterans’ Peace Movement is hot off the press from Oxford University Press. The website is https://unconventionalcombat.com  Messner is an associate (non-veteran) member of Veterans For Peace, on whose advisory board I serve.
