This is from Steve Hildebrand:
This is not a time for the left wing of our Party to draw conclusions about the Cabinet and White House appointments that President-Elect Obama is making.
So, you’re not even going to deny that these are a bunch of right-wingers? You’re going to ask that people shut off their brains and mouths and simply obey?
Some believe the appointments generally aren’t progressive enough. Having worked with former Senator Obama for the last two years, I can tell you, that isn’t the way he thinks and it’s not likely the way he will lead.
He won’t care if anyone is progressive? Well, no kidding. But why put that in a message to progressives, as yours was titled, except to spit in the faces of the people who elected your boss. Yes, us, the majority of Americans.
The problems I mentioned above and the many I didn’t, suggest that our president surround himself with the most qualified people to address these challenges.
The problems, the economy and the war and so forth, themselves are speaking to you and they’re telling you Obama picked the best people to solve them? And if we, the American people, disagree, we’re supposed to believe you talked to the problems, like Bush talked to Jesus, and so you just know better than we do?
After all, he was elected to be the president of all the people – not just those on the left.
He is to be the president of all the people, but he was elected instead of another candidate. Is that to mean nothing? Are the promises he made and those the other guy made to mean nothing? And then are the opinions of the American people going forward to mean nothing? Do you suppose that only a minority oppose your damn “bailouts” and want to get out of Iraq NOW? If so, please crawl out from under your rock.
As a liberal member of our Party, I hope and expect our new president to address those issues that will benefit the vast majority of Americans first and foremost.
Now you get to be a liberal by claiming to be one? And that empty claim is supposed to protect you from any criticism that your actual views are anything but? And you oppose progressives speaking up but you want to identify people as members of a party – excuse me, a Party? Do you imagine that the vast majority of Americans don’t want single-payer health care and green jobs instead of what the militaristic oligarchic crowd you’re assembling want?
That’s his job. Over time, there will be many, many issues that come before him. But first let’s get our economy moving, bring our troops home safely, fix health care, end climate change and restore our place in the world. What a great president Barack Obama will be if he can work with Congress and the American people to make great strides in these very difficult times.
And now you’re for everything that’s good in the world, but we have to shut up until you’re done ending climate change, the first step in which process you’ve scheduled to run until 2050? Um, no thanks.
