Stage set: a dining room at left, an office at right

A woman enters the office where the phone is ringing. She answers it.

NP: Hello? Why do you ask? Yes, I’m sure. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Impeachment is off the table. Now let me tell you about some new legislative proposals that I think you’re really going to like. I’ll give you what we’re going to pass in the first hundred seconds and in the first hundred months. On Wednesday, Cindy Sheehan, Ann Wright, Lennox Yearwood, and about 50 other activists for peace met up on the sidewalk in front of the White House. I brought along a box containing 6,000-some pages of names and comments: about 80,000 names with cities and states, about half of them with comments beside them. Democrats need to be preparing for that crisis now. And I don’t mean just elected Democrats. I mean you and everyone you know read more

By David Swanson

Our President is pretending that the Democrats have no plan for Iraq, and the media is repeating that pretense unchallenged. But a lot depends on which Democrats we look to. DNC Chair Howard Dean has no more plan than Bush himself. Ohio Congressman Dennis Kucinich published a plan in 2003 — that’s THREE YEARS AGO — that puts Bush, his party, and some of the Democrats to shame. Here it is, unaltered, from 2003:

The Kucinich Plan to Bring Our Troops Home

We will say, ‘Shame on you, shame on you, shame on you,’ but teachers are dying in the streets in Mexico from the federales. Do you think teachers would be dying in the streets in Peoria?”

Audio: MP3.
