  1. I joined a few other local folk today as Mark turned himself in at the Glynn County Detention Center — a choice he made rather than accept the conditions under which he had been released for needed medical treatment. It was an interesting dynamic. The Sheriff came out and joined us in prayer for refugees and peace. He did not realize until we explained it to him that Mark had actually requested to be re-incarcerated. He seemed to understand that this was something special. It took awhile to get him into the jail, as the Detention Center had to wait for the feds to send over the paperwork. That was OK: it gave Mark and Luz, his wife, a little more time to say their good-byes. There is a price to pay for peacemaking, but, as Mark is quick to point out, it is so much less than the price paid by those on the receiving end of the U.S.’s cruelties.
