TWO GREAT EVENTS IN DC AREA

Look forward to seeing you at both of these:

1. WEDNESDAY NIGHT

PDA at new Busboys and Poets in Shirlington, Va.

Busboys & Poets & Progressive Politics
October 10, 2007, Arlington, VA
Meet Reps. Lee, Woolsey, Moran, Mayor Rocky Anderson, and Norman Solomon

Spend an evening of food, conversation, and community with Congressional Progressive Caucus Co-Chairs Reps. Barbara Lee (CA) and Lynn Woolsey (CA), columnist Norman Solomon and Salt Lake City Mayor Rocky Anderson. Rep. Jim Moran will provide the opening comments in a discussion on the latest efforts to end the occupation of Iraq. The event, organized by PDA Virginia on Wednesday October 10, is sponsored by Busboys and Poets in their new Shirlington location at 4251 Campbell Ave. (formerly known as 28th St. South).

The event begins at 7:30 pm and includes delicious food (cash bar) and stimulating remarks by our featured speakers. Reserve your $35 ticket. For $150, reserve your place at the special private reception before the main event from 6:00 – 7:30 pm featuring Reps. Barbara Lee and Rep. Lynn Woolsey. It includes entry to the main event, Busboy’s delicious food and drinks, and a free DVD of Norman Solomon’s documentary “War Made Easy”.

Meet these dynamic and courageous women who, with the Congressional Progressive Caucus (CPC), have become a major force on Capitol Hill. Barbara Lee was the lone courageous vote in 2001 against giving Bush’ sweeping war powers and Lynn Woolsey has been steadfast in her oppostion to the war and occupation in Iraq, and in her support of grassroots organizations like PDA. Both progressive leaders worth meeting—up close and personal! In addition, to Reps. Lee and Woolsey, meet Rep. Jim Moran and speak personally with Mayor Rocky Anderson, author Norman Solomon, Tim Carpenter, PDA National Director and other notable progressives.

Be among the first to enjoy the energy and excitement of the new Busboys and Poets, an extraordinary restaurant/political bookstore/progressive salon. Busboys is destined to be a center of progressive thought, dialogue, and action that will be a catalyst for change in Virginia and the nation’s capitol.

All proceeds to benefit PDA’s Fall Peace Offensive.

Driving directions: Shirlington is on I-395 in Virginia 4 miles south of Washington, DC and the Potomac River.
