New Hampshire Has Impeachment Fever

By David Swanson

New Hampshire State Representative Betty Hall is the chief sponsor of a resolution to be voted on this week in the state legislature, a resolution to petition Congress to impeach Bush and Cheney. Hall asked people to Email her their thoughts, and she is receiving more than one Email per minute, almost all of them from New Hampshire, but some from other states and countries, and every single one of them supportive of impeachment. Here’s a sampling:

Hi Betty,
I met you in Hanover at the Impeachment Teach-in awhile ago. I want to add my support to this important and worthy cause. Thank-you for your initiative and efforts.

Impeach George W. Bush and Richard Cheney. Then try both for treason and destruction of America’s Democracy.

Indeed this is long over due. The number of illegal and unconstitutional acts from the Bush administration is astounding. Congress must stop stalling the impeachment procedings! Thank you to Rep. Betty Hall for your sponsorship of NH House Resolution 24! A true patriot!

I ask that all House Representatives pass House. HR24 approving of the petition and have it transmitted to Congress as a directive from the State level to the U.S. Congress to commence Impeachment Hearings post haste. This vote will take place either 3/5 or 3/12 in Concord, and we ask that ALL the House members vote for HR 24 and be our voice in Washington. We have been waiting too long for this to take place. Thank you.

If we value our humanity and the humanity of our nation, its moral staunchness, its perpetual strides toward reform, we must impeach President Bush. Otherwise, the implications would brand the U.S. a wasteland which embraces torture, which makes impulsive decisions with the lives of its service men and women as well as the lives of foreign civilians, which has completely forsaken its integrity as a leading nation. Please, do not shy away from serving your country. I am a U.S. citizen, and I refuse to sit silently while the alleged values of my home are debased.
Sincerely,
–Stephanie Geheran

My name is Will Thomas of Auburn and I endorse HR 24. I am in a district (Auburn-Londonderry) that has eight state representatives, all Republican. Yet, I am hoping that at least some of them will vote for this resolution as it is time to hold people (such as VP Cheney) accountable for the deceit and lies and violation of our Constitution and Bill of Rights. Thanks. And, good luck!!
