Member of Czech Parliament Taking Arrogance Lessons from Dick Cheney?

By David Swanson

Wow. All I did was sign this petition http://www.nonviolence.cz opposing the construction of a U.S. “missile defense” base in the Czech Republic, an outpost of our growing empire actually intended for aggressive war, not “defense.” And I got this Email in reply:

“Dear petitioner,

“Thank you for your e-mail and your concern about Czech foreign policy.

“I have already announced that as member of the Senate of Parliament of the Czech Republic I will vote for placement of the base on the territory of the Czech Republic. I am also convinced, that in questions of national security is not possible make decision at referendum.

“My stand is longtime and constant and I would like inform you about it.

“Regards

“Richard Svoboda”

He sent this message from this Email address svoboda@RSvoboda.cz in case you’re inclined to share your views with him. I think the assertion that “in questions of national security is not possible make decision at referendum” can roughly be translated into Cheneyese as “So?”

So what if the Czech people and the people in surrounding nations and the people in the “Homeland” of the empire oppose pinning this bullseye on your nation to enrich a bunch of fraudulent warmongers? None of those people, after all, are “member of the Senate of Parliament.” So screw them.
