dissenting, to allow Town Treasurer Roger
Mitchell Jr. to apply for a loan of $8,760,000 for
wastewater capital improvements. The loan,
acceptance of which will still have to be
approved by Council, would come from the
Virginia Revolving Loan Fund and involve highly
favorable terms (few costs and an approximately
3 percent interest rate).

27 and took actions and heard reports on many

Latest Sprawl Vaguely Interesting

At its monthly meeting last Wednesday the
County Planning Commission voted to table for
60 days a request for a use permit for the reuse
and expansion of the old Federal Reserve facility
on 48 acres off Route 658 in Stevensburg to
create a National Audio-Visual Conservation
Center, which would be part of the Library of
Congress.

Building a Park

Jeffersonton-area residents toiled last weekend
to help the Culpeper County Parks and Rec
Department Spilman Park in northern Culpeper
into a useable facility.

Town Budget Entirely Uninspired

The Culpeper Town Council held a public
hearing on its proposed FY2001 budget at its
regular monthly meeting Tuesday night. Unlike
the recent county budget proceedings, there was
no large crowd and no mention of the word
taxes. The town is not proposing a tax increase
for its $19,952,265 budget.
